Is it Fall Out There???

Man, I can't get over the temperature fluctuations this spring and summer. I'm actually a little cold today. Just checking in and posting a couple of other pictures from the Arboretum. Do you see the elephant in the first picture?

Communing With Nature

Yes, Diane and I spent this afternoon at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum communing with nature and enjoying it immensely. We took the hour long tram ride around the grounds and couldn't believe how many trees there were that we did not know existed. The roses were in bloom but we found one lone dahlia blooming (an early bloomer). I have added most of the pictures to my Facebook page so I can send them to you if you want to see them.....after all, a rose is a rose is a rose, as they say.

Minnesota Hindu Temple

Last evening we went to the grand opening of the Minnesota Hindu Temple which is located just down the road from us (it was not quite finished as you can see from the picture). It was very interesting, if not a bit noisy with all the chanting going on. We had a tour guide that explained all the gods and goddesses to us but it was VERY hard to hear him with much noise from the chanting (with a microphone) and bells ringing, etc. Guess I'll have to read a book about the religion as I couldn't hear him very well. If you decide to take the tour, be forewarned that at the end of the tour, you are asked to give him at least $5.00 per person. Nothing was said about money before the tour started. We did forget to remove our shoes when we were on the upper floor of the temple and were asked to take them off.....I guess I wasn't supposed to be taking pictures either and was asked not to. I did snap a few before they caught me. :-) We decided against eating the dinner which was being served and went over to El Rodeo instead. It was a nice evening.

Latest Picture of Poker Queens Group

Here are all the card sharks....yes, we are the Poker Queens. We try and get together every month to lose a bunch of pennies. ;-)

It's such a fun group and we all get along so well with much the same interests. I'm so glad I was invited into it and try not to miss it every month. Sometimes it's not easy with being "up nort" but I don't want to miss the laughter so make it a point to mark my calendar.

Meet My Little Friend, Snappy

I'd like you to meet my little friend, Snappy. He had lost his way and was taking a leisurely stroll on our driveway by way of my flowers. He is quite a distance from the lake so he must have been very tired, hungry and thirsty. I guided him away from my flowers and now he is heading back down to the cool mud in the lake for a long nap. He did not like my trying to guide him and was sticking out his head and snapping at me. Anyway, this is my excitement for the day. ;-) I remember the HUGE snapping turtles that we used to have on our farm. I definitely wouldn't have gotten close to them.

A Year Ago in History

Yes, I was enjoying the company of my sister and niece a year ago today. Wish they were here today. Although, I'm still not feeling too swift so it's probably a good thing I'm by my lonesome. Bill had to do some things in North Dakota so I decided to stay here. I've been cleaning which doesn't necessarily make me feel better but it has to be done, so.....

It's a beautiful day here and I keep wishing our family get-together was this weekend with the beautiful weather. Maybe they can come back later this season.

Just thought I'd check in and see what my fellow bloggers are up to. Hope you have a great trip, JB. You must be leaving soon.

Our Weekend with Family at the Cabin

Yes, it was a family get-together.....9 of us actually.....plus the dog. How, many shoes do 9 people need to wear -- that is the question? Our grandson brought his girlfriend who has a 7 year old that has Attention Deficit problems so it was a very busy weekend and the weather was rainy and cold so we were all inside a good portion of the time. Did I mention they brought their dog???

Bill and I are now going to lock the doors and take a good long nap to recuperate. Sorry if I sound a bit cranky. More pictures to follow.
