Another Christmas with the Christmas Doll

Here is a picture of our grand-daughter (who is a doll in her own right) with her animated Christmas doll. Mel is 15 this year and growing into such a young lady (can you tell I'm a proud Grandma?). We had a very nice Christmas with 12 around the dining room table...very nice indeed. I have been pretty tired the last couple of days though...winding down from all the hustle and bustle of Christmas. Feels good to just relax.

I did have a bit of tension the other day while at Wal-Mart. I wore my big ear muffs that day (you may remember them from the picture on my other blog with Bucky the bear wearing them) check it out here. Anyway, after strolling around the whole store and checking out, I went to put on my trusty ear muffs and found that they weren't on my arm where I had put them. I frantically traced all my steps and was sure I wouldn't find them....I was sure someone would have picked them up and worn them home. I have grown quite attached to my ear muffs with the cold weather "up nort" and my tendency to get ear aches if I don't wear them. Well, would you believe that I found them laying pitifully on the floor in the plumbing section (I had gone to Wal-Mart to pick out a new toilet seat....but you really didn't want to know that, did you?). I was sooo happy to find my ear muffs and couldn't believe they were on my head as I walked out of the store into the cold winter weather. Sometimes, things do turn out as you would like them to......not too often though.

Picture of Christmas Past

Here is a picture of one of our many Happy Christmases growing up on the farm. We were blessed. Mom & Dad were the best and even if we didn't have a lot, we always got a present we wanted as you can see from my grin....I was happy.

Bill and I went out for a little Livermulch (I guess I should explain what Livermulch is....it's any kind of liquor that I may be imbibing in at the time. Kind of a take-off of Liebfraumilch (not sure of spelling)....although it probably makes mulch out of your liver too) last night and while sitting in the bar watching the enormous TV on the wall, I thought of Anne.....and no, it wasn't a rhino this time. There was a commercial on about Snuggies.....they showed a whole family sitting around a TV with their Snuggies on. It was hilarious....or maybe I had had a bit too much Livermulch by that time but I did laugh seeing it. They had a website on the screen too but I can't seem to remember it.....

I hope all my blog buddies have a Merry Christmas with loved ones and a Happy, Healthy New Year.

Tongue Tied

Well, sometimes this is what I feel like....tongue-tied. I do remember doing this to the flagpole at our school when I was a kid but my tongue did not stick to the pole...thank goodness. When I think of how many other people had done this, it makes me shudder....maybe that's why I was so sick when I was a kid....all those germs.

This also reminds me of the other major event that occurred at that flagpole. During the fall of my 1st grade year, we would get married under the flagpole on the school grounds. Yes, I was married at age 6....and he was not a keeper.

I just got back from driving to Sam's Club and Rainbow Foods for a few things....had to get some Livermulch if I was going to be snowed in at the condo. It is nasty out there...don't go out unless you have to. I probably will miss my daughter's Christmas get-together tonight in Elk River. I don't particularly want to brave the roads this evening...they say the wind is supposed to come up also.

We Three Deer

Here is another picture of the deer. I took this from inside the cabin as they scatter off as soon as I open the door so it's not as clear as I'd like it but it still is neat. I'm afraid it's going to be a rough winter for them with all the snow and cold weather already and more to come they say.

I'm baking Christmas bread today...which isn't very hard as I use frozen bread dough and just add candied cherries after it rises and I roll it out. Bill loves it and I enjoy is toasted with lots of butter.

It sounds like we are in for another round of snow tomorrow....not as much as down south though. Bill left for Fargo this morning so it is very quiet at the cabin.....which I love. Gives me a chance to blog. I hope the roads are good for him.

One thing I don't like about this blog is that is doesn't notify me when I have an entry on my blog from my "followers". Is there some way I can do that?

Are You Lookin' At Me???

Here is a picture of our friendly deer (there were 3 last night) that come to visit us each night around 5:00PM. They tend to be a bit hungry (as I am around that time of day) so are trying to get a good position at the deer feeder. We have decided to feed them whole kernels of corn instead of cracked corn because it's a dollar cheaper per bag and we figure they eat whole ears of corn in the fields anyway. This little guy brought to mind the saying, "Are You Lookin' At Me???", as said by Robert DeNiro in the tone that only he can say it.

We went into town today as I had an eye doctor appointment....all is well...no glaucoma after taking tests. Doc says I have a thick cornea which he says is good....I guess that goes with the rest of the body....thick all over.

I hear we are going to get more snow on Friday...whoopee! Am I wrong or does it seem too early for all this snow and cold weather?? I mean we have October - May to put up with this stuff up nort'. It just seems too early for heavy snowfall and it's gotta go.....gotta go....or gotta melt.

For some reason I don't see the spot where I can add a picture of the deer....maybe I broke it yesterday when I added the picture of myself. ;-) Bear with me and if it doesn't show up on this post, I'll try and add it on the next one....still getting used to this blog.
I finally found the edit post page after clearing my cookies so I'm back in business and raring to go!

Black Squirrels Get Hungry Too

We have a black squirrel (in this photo he doesn't look black because he has snow on his coat) that loves to jump to our bird feeder and try to get some seeds....quite the daredevil. The other day, a woodpecker tried hanging on it...the woodpecker was almost bigger than the feeder! Couldn't get a very good picture of it though.

I'm just hibernating after our 18 inches of snow over the last few days. We may get more today....joy, joy. It is -22 outside right now and I have no plans on going out and about today. It's a good thing I have this blog to vent on or a person could go stir crazy.

I hope the black ice melts soon down south and I know the snow isn't going to be melting up nort' so it is what it is.

Tell me again why I live in Minnesota in the winter....

Would somebody tell me again why I live in Minnesota in the winter.....18 inches of the white stuff is on the ground. If I made a snow angel, they probably wouldn't find me until next spring. Still getting used to this new blog.
