It's a chocolate chip cookie kind of day

Ah yes, after washing sheets and clothes I thought I'd reward myself with some chocolate chip cookies. They were warm and gooey and just what I needed to keep going today. Don't you just love the smell (and the taste) of chocolate chip cookies right out of the oven? Nothing too exciting happening today other than the siding guy coming by to replace one of the pieces of siding that had fallen off (must have been from the wind). He was going to glue it back on until I told him it had cracked so he will be back with another piece sometime this week....there, wasn't that an exciting piece of news??? Well, it's off to wash some more clothes....and eat more cookies.....such a fun day. :-( Hmmmm, for some reason the picture of my cookies didn't upload. Believe me, they were good.

Too Many Sweets

Well, I had a visit to the dentist today and was hoping for just a cleaning but had to have x-rays and then they found a cavity so I'll be going back for that in the near future. I guess I have to cut out some of the food that my sweet tooth likes. :-(

I had a fun night last night hosting the Poker Queens. Won a few dirty pennies and had quite a few laughs along with a lot of visiting in between hands. Love poker night!

Hope you are all having a good day.

Monday, Monday

Hey fellow bloggers. Sorry I've been away from the blog for awhile but nothing too exciting has been happening in my life lately. I've been doing some spring cleaning the last couple of days....fun, fun. The weather is shaping up though which is a good thing. I've enjoyed reading your blogs though so thanks for your posts and Prissy has fixed her comment problem so all is well in blog world again. Now, if we could just get Julia to blog again and recruit a few more bloggers, it would be nice. Well, it's back to scrubbing floors now. :-( Here is a picture of Prissy and I standing at the edge of a cliff in the North Dakota Badlands many years ago. North Dakota has some beautiful sights to see even though it is a lot of prairie....you just have to look.

A Wee Blog Post

Well Faith n' Begorrah, another St. Patty's Day is upon us! I posted this little poem last year but felt it was worthy of another go-around:

An Irish Poem

I wish you always

Walls for the wind

A roof for the rain

and tea beside the fire

Laughter to cheer you

Those you love near you

and all that your heart may desire.

Bill and I took a wee walk down the lane today searching for our pot o' gold but alas did not find it. I forgot my earmuffs so that was why our walk was a wee one. Still a brisk wind but nice and sunny here today.....I hear there may be snow this weekend. :-(

We drove to Bemidji yesterday (the biggest town near us) to purchase a new washer and dryer as my washer has started to leak. We have had it many, many years though so I think it is time to let it go. ;-) We picked out the ones that have more capacity and are more energy efficient. Can't wait to get them!

Bill and I are going out for dinner tonight to celebrate the 29th anniversary of our first date at the Fox & Hounds in St. Paul. Yes, the luck of the Irish was with us that fateful night and is still with us to this day (even though we don't have a bit of Irish blood in us.....although, I shouldn't say that now that there is a DNA test to see who our ancestors are.....we may just be a wee bit Irish). Since there is no Irish pub around here up nort' we will go to a local German restaurant and toast to many more anniversaries. Though this isn't a picture of our first date, it isn't far from it. I'll have to do some digging to find those pictures.....just like I'm going to dig for my pot o' gold later on.

The Walking Group

Diane invited me to join her walking group which was a great idea. I really need the exercise! I went a couple of times this week (3 miles each time) so feel better already. We walked around Brookdale on Wednesday and then around Northtown today. A great place to walk when it's rainy and nasty outside. Afterwards, we went to Panera and had coffee and something sweet and then drove over to Anoka where we went through a few stores including The French Flea Market and ate lunch at Truffles and Tortes on Main Street. It was such a fun day....thanks for inviting me to go walkin' with you!

Joan's Birthday Party (A Little Early)

Last night we got together to celebrate Joan's birthday and had a great time visiting and laughing. Here is a tiny movie I put together of our fun times together. Thanks for being my friend, Joan. :-)

Melissa and Renee

Renee and Melissa were visiting us at the cabin last weekend and then Bill and I drove over to Pillager (near Brainerd) to see Melissa play in the Olympic Volleyball Tournament. It was so fun to see her out there on the court giving her all to win. Such a good effort even with her injured thumb! Mom and Grandpa and Grandma were pretty proud of her.

Still Photos of Our Night at the Oscars

The best dressed on the red carpet were Vera and Dave wearing fashions by Vera (wish I would have captured her dress in the back).

After the Oscars! The Winners Are........

The winners of picking who won at the Oscars are......a tie between Kay and Diane. What a fun night!

A Night to Remember - The Oscars!

Here is a short video of our Oscar party at Joan & David's. Sorry for the poor resolution but we did have fun as you will see. Best dressed on the red carpet were Vera & Dave!
